Vigue Dominates as Georgia Blanks Queens in Doubleheader Opener
ATHENS, Ga. (Interstat) — Dylan Vigue struck out 11 over seven one-hit innings, leading Georgia to an 11-0 rout of Queens (N.C.) in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday at Foley Field.
Vigue faced just two batters over the minimum, dominating a Royals lineup that managed only a single by Thomas Mathay. The Bulldogs provided ample support, pounding 13 hits. Jack Arcamone, Kolby Branch, Tre Phelps, Brennan Hudson and Daniel Jackson all homered for Georgia. Branch’s three-run blast in the seventh inning enacted the run rule.
The Bulldogs improved to 14-3, while Queens fell to 4-11. The teams met again in the second game of the twin bill later Saturday.
