Queens (NC) at Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. (Interstat) — The Georgia Bulldogs look to continue their strong start to the season when they host the Queens (N.C.) Royals in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday at Foley Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a temperature near 67 degrees.

The No. 8-ranked Bulldogs (11-3) enter riding a potent offense but seeking to rebound from a 10-9 midweek loss to Western Carolina. That defeat snapped a seven-game winning streak. Georgia’s lineup is powered by catcher Daniel Jackson, who is batting .410 with five home runs and 18 RBIs over his last nine games. In the loss to Western Carolina, Jackson went 3 for 4 with a homer and four RBIs.

The Royals (4-8) have lost four of their last five, including a 9-2 defeat at North Carolina State on Wednesday. Queens was swept in a three-game series by Army last weekend before the midweek loss.

A player to watch for Queens is right-hander Adrian Quezada. In his last start on March 4 at N.C. State, Quezada struck out seven over 6 2/3 innings, though he allowed five earned runs. On Feb. 25, he earned the win after throwing six innings in a 9-8 victory at South Carolina.

Georgia holds a significant edge in recent performance and the all-time series, having defeated Queens 8-0 in the opener of this series on Friday.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-3 victory for Georgia on Saturday.

The second game of the doubleheader will begin approximately 45 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
