Bowling Green at Kent State

Rain, Records Set Stage for MAC Showdown in Kent

KENT, Ohio (March 7, 2026) (Interstat) — A wet forecast and contrasting trajectories will meet Saturday as the Kent State Golden Flashes host the Bowling Green Falcons in a Mid-American Conference baseball series continuation at Olga Mural Field at Schoonover Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for the afternoon, though steady rain and temperatures near 70 degrees are expected. The game may be in doubt due to the conditions.

Kent State (10-3) enters riding high after an 8-1 victory in Friday’s series opener. The Golden Flashes’ potent offense was complemented by a dominant start from right-hander Ciaran Caughey, who struck out nine over seven innings, allowing just two hits and one earned run. Caughey is a player to watch again as the Flashes seek another series win.

Bowling Green (2-7) looks to halt a skid and solve Kent State’s pitching. The Falcons will likely turn to right-hander Jacob Turner, who delivered a strong but ultimately losing effort Friday. Turner pitched 6 1/3 innings of no-hit ball but was charged with four earned runs in the 8-1 loss. His recent outings, including a five-inning, six-strikeout win at Samford on Feb. 27, show he can be a stopper.

The teams’ seasons have diverged sharply. Since opening weekend, Kent State has series wins over Rhode Island and a road victory at then-Tennessee. Bowling Green has struggled, with its only series victory coming at Samford from Feb. 27-28.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-2 victory for Kent State.

Following Saturday’s contest, the series concludes Sunday afternoon. Kent State then travels to face Ohio State on Tuesday. Bowling Green visits Dayton on Tuesday before opening a MAC series at Miami (Ohio) next Friday.
