Monmouth at Towson

Preview: Monmouth Hawks at Towson Tigers

TOWSON, Md. (Interstat) — The Monmouth Hawks and Towson Tigers will continue their Colonial Athletic Association series Saturday at John B. Schuerholz Baseball Complex, with first pitch scheduled for the afternoon.

The Hawks (3-7) evened the series with a 12-5 victory Friday night. Monmouth reliever Kevin Opanel was dominant in that win, throwing four hitless and scoreless innings. He will be a key player to watch again for the Hawks.

Towson (5-5) saw its two-game winning streak snapped in the opener. Tigers reliever Aiden Sites struck out five over three innings of one-run ball Friday and is a player to watch for the home side.

The weather forecast calls for cloudy skies and a temperature of 46 degrees at game time.

Despite Monmouth’s lower overall record, Interstat’s ELO system projects the Hawks with a 59.80% probability to win Saturday. However, the same service’s game simulator predicts a 5-2 victory for Towson.

Monmouth’s recent results have been inconsistent, following a 13-0 win at UMBC on March 1 with Friday’s offensive outburst. Towson had scored 28 runs in a game earlier this season but was held to five runs on Friday.

The teams will conclude the three-game series Sunday afternoon.
