Danny Cook’s Walk-Off Homer Lifts Pepperdine Over Michigan in Wild Comeback

MALIBU, Calif. (Interstat) — Danny Cook launched a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning Friday, capping a dramatic Pepperdine comeback for a 9-8 victory over Michigan at Eddy D. Field Stadium.

The Waves, who trailed 8-0 after two innings, chipped away before a four-run seventh tied it. Cook, who went 3 for 4 with two homers, ended it with his solo shot to left.

Michigan built its early lead on homers from Elie Kligman and Matthew Ossenfort. Pepperdine starter Cade Montgomery took a no-hitter into the sixth but was charged with five earned runs. Waves relievers Casey Euper and Lucien Wechsberg combined for 5 2/3 scoreless innings.

Pepperdine improved to 3-10. Michigan fell to 7-6. The teams meet again Saturday.
