Michigan at Pepperdine

Preview: Michigan Wolverines at Pepperdine Waves

MALIBU, Calif. (Interstat) — The Michigan Wolverines will look to build on a powerful offensive outburst when they visit the Pepperdine Waves for the second game of a weekend series Friday afternoon at Eddy D. Field Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. PST under clear skies with a temperature near 62 degrees.

The Wolverines (7-5) dominated the series opener Thursday, routing the Waves 17-4. Michigan’s offense was led by Dane Morrow, who came off the bench to go 3 for 3 with two home runs and two RBIs. The Waves (2-10) have lost eight of their last nine games.

Morrow, a player to watch for Michigan, will aim to stay hot after his perfect performance. Pepperdine will counter with reliever Jack Fowler, who provided a bright spot in Thursday’s loss by striking out five over three innings of one-run ball. Fowler is expected to see significant action again.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-2 Michigan victory, giving the Wolverines a 78.4% probability to win based on its ELO rating system.

Michigan’s recent results have been uneven, with Thursday’s win preceded by a 9-8 loss at Cal State Northridge. Pepperdine’s struggles are more pronounced, having allowed 10 or more runs in five of its 10 losses this season.

The series concludes Saturday in Malibu.
