Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Missouri
COLUMBIA, Mo. (Interstat) — The Missouri Tigers will look to complete a two-game midweek sweep when they host the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions in nonconference baseball action Wednesday evening at Taylor Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. under cloudy skies with temperatures around 54 degrees.
The Tigers (6-2) enter riding a wave of offensive momentum, having outscored their last three opponents 48-5, including a 15-1 rout of these same Golden Lions on Tuesday. Missouri’s lineup has been potent, averaging over 11 runs per game during its current four-game winning streak.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff (4-5) aims to rebound from that lopsided defeat and salvage a split of the brief series. The Golden Lions have shown resilience this season, splitting a four-game set with Stephen F. Austin last weekend.
A key matchup will feature a quick turnaround on the mound. Missouri is expected to start right-hander JD Dohrmann, who was dominant in Tuesday’s win. Dohrmann earned the victory with six strong innings, allowing just one hit and one earned run while striking out five.
The Golden Lions are projected to counter with right-hander Reagan James, who faced Missouri in relief just a day prior. James struggled on Tuesday, allowing four earned runs without recording a hit over three innings. He will seek to replicate his form from Feb. 20, when he threw four scoreless, one-hit innings against Stephen F. Austin.
Missouri’s offense was led Tuesday by catcher Mateo Serna, who went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs, and designated hitter Jase Woita, who added a homer and three RBIs. For UAPB, third baseman Ian Smith drove in the team’s lone run.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Tigers are favored to win a tighter contest Wednesday, with a projected final score of Missouri 5, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 3.
Following this game, Missouri will prepare for a three-game weekend series at home against North Dakota State. Arkansas-Pine Bluff continues its road swing with a three-game series at Arkansas State starting Friday.
