Wright State at Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio (Interstat) — The crosstown baseball rivalry between Wright State and Dayton resumes Wednesday at Woerner Field, though wet weather could threaten the nonconference matchup.

The Raiders (17-15) visit the Flyers (19-16) for a 3 p.m. first pitch. The forecast calls for rain and a temperature near 80 degrees.

Wright State enters riding a three-game winning streak after a weekend road sweep of Youngstown State, capped by a 20-8 offensive explosion Sunday. Second baseman Hunter Warren led that charge, going a perfect 5-for-5 with a home run and six RBIs. Warren is hitting .500 (15-for-30) with three homers and 14 RBIs over his last eight games.

Dayton is coming off a 19-6 road win at Bowling Green on Tuesday. Reliever Peyton Malecha was dominant in that victory, throwing five hitless and scoreless innings with five strikeouts. The Flyers will look to bounce back after dropping three of four to Saint Joseph’s last weekend.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a Wright State victory, 7-4.

The Raiders hold a narrow edge in the all-time series, which Dayton leads 71-69-1. The teams last met in 2023, splitting a two-game set.

Following this midweek contest, both teams jump back into conference play. Wright State hosts Indiana State for a three-game series starting Friday. Dayton opens an Atlantic 10 road series at Richmond on Friday.
