LILLINGTON, N.C. (Interstat) — The Campbell Fightin’ Camels will look to complete a Colonial Athletic Association series sweep when they host the College of Charleston Cougars on Sunday afternoon at Jim Perry Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. under cloudy skies with temperatures around 53 degrees.
Campbell (17-9) has taken the first two games of the series, winning 12-10 on Friday and 6-3 on Saturday. The Fightin’ Camels have won four straight and seven of their last eight games.
The College of Charleston (10-16) has lost three consecutive games and will aim to salvage the series finale.
A key matchup will feature two pitchers coming off strong performances in Saturday’s game. Campbell is expected to start right-hander David Rossow (4-1, 1.89 ERA), who earned the win Saturday with six dominant innings, allowing two hits and one earned run while striking out nine. In his last three starts, Rossow has pitched 18 innings, allowed three earned runs, and struck out 31 batters.
For the Cougars, reliever Parker Sweeney is a player to watch. The right-hander was brilliant in relief Saturday, throwing four hitless and scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Over his last five appearances, Sweeney has allowed just one earned run in 7 1/3 innings.
Offensively, Campbell’s lineup has produced 18 runs in the series. Carlos Lugo and Trent Rumley each drove in two runs in Saturday’s victory.
The Cougars’ offense, which scored 10 runs in the series opener, was held in check by Rossow and the Campbell bullpen on Saturday.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projection for Sunday’s contest is a 7-3 victory for Campbell.
Following the series, Campbell will travel to face North Carolina on Tuesday. College of Charleston will visit Winthrop on Tuesday.
