Samford Routs Troy Behind Early Barrage, Gandy’s Three RBIs in Non-Conference Matchup

TROY, Ala. (Interstat) — The Samford Bulldogs scored seven early runs and cruised to a 7-2 victory over the Troy Trojans at Riddle–Pace Field on Tuesday night. Samford sent 11 men to the plate in a decisive seven-run third inning, capitalizing on a Troy fielding error and key hits. Gus Gandy led the Bulldogs with three RBIs, including a two-run homer in the sixth inning. Troy managed nine hits but was shut out until Caden Reeves’ two-run double in the ninth inning. Samford pitchers combined to strand 10 Trojans baserunners. The Bulldogs improved to 10-13, while Troy fell to 10-14. The result defied a national projection that heavily favored the Trojans.
