Samford at Troy
TROY, Ala. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to steady their seasons meet Tuesday when the Samford Bulldogs visit the Troy Trojans at Riddle–Pace Field.
First pitch is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, 2026, with cloudy skies and a game-time temperature near 76 degrees forecast.
Both clubs enter with nearly identical records. Samford is 9-13 overall after a difficult weekend series at Western Carolina, which included a 10-9 loss on Sunday. Troy sits at 10-13 following a tight 5-4 road loss at Southern Mississippi on Sunday.
A key matchup will feature Samford reliever John Malone, who has been a bright spot. In his last five appearances, the right-hander has allowed no earned runs in four of them, striking out 15 batters over 10.2 innings. He threw 1.2 scoreless innings with four strikeouts in Sunday’s loss.
For Troy, starter Tommy Egan seeks consistency. The right-hander was dominant in a March 6 win over Maryland, throwing five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. However, he allowed seven earned runs to Old Dominion on March 13 and four earned runs at Southern Miss on Sunday despite not allowing a hit over 5.2 innings, hampered by control issues.
Samford’s offense showed life in the weekend series, scoring 29 runs in three games. Designated hitter Eddie Marshall went 3 for 4 with two RBIs in Sunday’s contest.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is Troy 5, Samford 4.
This is a standalone midweek game before both teams resume conference play this weekend. Samford will host Presbyterian in a three-game series starting Friday. Troy travels to face Florida A&M on Wednesday before a weekend series at Georgia Southern.
