ORLANDO, Fla. (Interstat) — Zak Skinner’s walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning gave UCF a 2-1 victory over South Florida on Sunday afternoon at Jay Bergman Field, securing a series split.

The Knights won despite mustering only five hits, scoring an unearned run in the second before Skinner’s decisive hit off Bulls reliever Kaden Smith. South Florida tied it in the sixth on Eli Thomas’ RBI single, one of just two hits for the Bulls.

UCF starter Joey Trombley allowed one run over six strong innings. South Florida’s Landen Yorek was brilliant in a no-decision, pitching 6 1/3 hitless innings before the bullpen faltered. UCF improved to 5-5. South Florida fell to 9-3.
