Plasencia vs. Almeda

Preview: Plasencia Faces Almeda in LF Women’s Basketball Clash

BARCELONA, Spain (Interstat) — Two teams looking to build momentum in the final stretch of the Spain LF season will meet Saturday when Plasencia visits Almeda.

The women’s professional basketball game is scheduled for April 11, 2026, in Barcelona.

Plasencia (9-15) enters holding the higher position in the standings, though it has dropped two consecutive games. Its most recent was a 57-65 home loss to Segle XXI on March 28. Guard Cristina Lazaro led the effort with 14 points and seven rebounds in 36 minutes. Lazaro has been a consistent contributor, averaging 7.7 points and 5.0 rebounds over her last three outings.

Almeda (6-17) snapped a five-game skid with a 69-54 road victory over Edbaser on March 28. Forward Andreea Cojocariu powered that win with a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds, adding two blocks. Her performance highlighted her potential to dominate inside.

The season’s only prior meeting heavily favored Plasencia, which secured a 57-41 home win over Almeda on Dec. 20, 2025.

Recent form, however, presents a contrast. Plasencia has struggled offensively, failing to reach 60 points in its last two defeats. Almeda’s win over Edbaser marked its highest scoring output since February.

The matchup may hinge on the interior battle and which team controls the tempo. Plasencia will rely on Lazaro’s all-around play and the backcourt distribution of Lucia Navas Castro, who dished nine assists in the last meeting with Segle XXI. Almeda will look to Cojocariu and Laura Tierno, who scored 13 points in the recent victory, to provide scoring punch.

With both teams having just one game listed ahead on their respective schedules, securing a win is critical for morale ahead of the season’s closing weeks.
