Estepona at Zaragoza
ZARAGOZA (Interstat) — Zaragoza will host Estepona on Sunday in a women’s professional basketball game, with the home team opening its season and the visiting side aiming to bounce back from a narrow defeat.
Estepona enters with an 0-1 record after a 71-76 loss at San Giovanni on Thursday. Zaragoza is 0-0 and has not yet played this season. The visitors will look to Stephanie Watts for production and leadership. In her most recent appearance, on Oct. 1 at San Giovanni, Watts played 28 minutes and recorded 15 points, three rebounds and two assists. She is expected to be a central part of Estepona’s attack as it seeks its first win. Watts’s ability to score and create for teammates could help Estepona settle into the game and handle Zaragoza’s home pressure.
Zaragoza’s most recent result was a 67-68 loss at Valencia on May 17. The home team will try to begin the new campaign with a composed performance and take advantage of its home court. Estepona, meanwhile, will attempt to carry lessons from its opening loss into a difficult road environment. The visitors will need to reduce mistakes and find consistent offense after coming up short in their first outing.
The game offers an early test for both sides. Estepona has already dealt with live game situations, while Zaragoza will be working through its first competitive minutes of the season. Zaragoza will aim to establish rhythm early and use its home crowd to build momentum. Estepona will look to stay close and give itself a chance in the closing minutes.
Estepona’s upcoming schedule includes a home game against Ensino on Thursday, Oct. 8, followed by road games at Mallorca Palma on Friday, Nov. 6, and Valencia on Sunday, Nov. 29. Estepona also hosts IDK Gipuzkoa on Saturday, Dec. 19, visits Innova-TSN on Tuesday, Dec. 22, and hosts Araski on Tuesday, Dec. 29.
Zaragoza’s next stretch begins with a trip to Gernika Bizkaia on Wednesday, Oct. 7. Zaragoza then hosts Landes on Wednesday, Oct. 14, visits Athinaikos on Wednesday, Oct. 21, and plays at Avenida on Sunday, Oct. 25.
