Split vs. Medvescak
ZAGREB, Croatia (Interstat) — A battle for a first win in months will unfold Tuesday when Medvescak hosts Split in a Croatian women’s professional basketball matchup featuring the league’s two struggling franchises.
The game, scheduled for March 24, 2026, in Zagreb, pits two teams mired in lengthy losing streaks. Medvescak enters with an 0-17 record, the only winless team in the league. Split is only marginally better at 1-16. Both teams’ last victories came against each other in their previous meeting.
On Nov. 22, 2025, Split edged Medvescak 45-44 in a low-scoring affair. That result represents Split’s sole win this season and Medvescak’s closest call. The rematch offers Medvescak its best opportunity to finally enter the win column, this time on its home floor.
Split is coming off a narrow 69-68 loss to Zadar on March 8, a game in which Iva Tabak nearly recorded a triple-double with 12 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists. Guard Bruna Turcinov led all scorers in that contest with 25 points. Medvescak, meanwhile, is reeling from a 94-56 defeat to Rijeka that same day. Katarina Sekulic scored 15 points in the loss, while Iva Medic added 11 points and nine rebounds.
The season has been a difficult one for both clubs. Since their November meeting, Split has lost 10 consecutive games, often by lopsided margins, including a 99-31 road loss to Ragusa in January. Medvescak’s losing streak stands at 17 games overall, with their last 10 defeats coming by an average margin of 30.5 points.
The matchup will likely hinge on which team can find consistent offense. Both rank at the bottom of the league in scoring. Split will look to Turcinov and Tabak to control the tempo, while Medvescak will rely on Sekulic and Medic to provide a scoring and rebounding presence inside.
Following this game, Medvescak will host Zadar on March 28. Split’s next contest is at home against Brod na Savi on the same date.
