ALEXANDRIA, Australia (Interstat) — Lauren Nicholson scored 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Sutherland to a 70-63 victory over the Syd. Comets on Saturday in Australia NBL One women’s basketball action.

Madeleine Norris added 19 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for Sutherland, which improved to 5-4 with the win. Abigail Curtin contributed 17 points and eight rebounds. Olivia Douglas pulled down 12 rebounds.

For Syd. Comets, which fell to 3-9, Mikayla Pirini scored 17 points with five assists. Alexandra Kayrouz had 15 points and seven rebounds, and Alexandria Oliver finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and four blocks.

Sutherland shot 44.1% from the field and 33.3% from three-point range while making 13 of 16 free throws. Syd. Comets shot 37.5% overall and 28.6% from beyond the arc, hitting 10 of 15 foul shots.

Sutherland had defeated Syd. Comets 78-60 on March 28 in their previous meeting.
