DANDENONG, Australia (Interstat) — Cayla George scored 32 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Southside to a 109-89 victory over first-place Townsville in a Women’s National Basketball League game Wednesday. The center added six assists in 37 minutes as the home team avenged a 28-point loss to Townsville from three days prior. Maddison Rocci contributed 24 points and 11 assists for Southside, which improved to 12-13. Miela Sowah led Townsville with 27 points, but the league leaders fell to 20-5 despite 19 points from Alicia Froling. Southside, which entered as a significant underdog according to statistical projections, controlled the game throughout at Dandenong Stadium.
