MiraCosta vs San Joaquin Delta

STOCKTON, Calif. (Interstat) — Two of California’s premier junior college women’s basketball teams will clash for the state title Sunday when the No. 1-seeded San Joaquin Delta Mustangs host the MiraCosta Spartans in the 3C2A State Championship game.

Tipoff is set for Sunday afternoon at Delta’s Blanchard Gymnasium.

The Spartans (29-2) enter on a nine-game winning streak, most recently dispatching Fresno City 66-54 in Saturday’s semifinal. Their engine is dynamic guard Anayla Anderson, who recorded a triple-double in that victory with 23 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. MiraCosta’s only losses this season came against conference rival Palomar and a narrow road defeat to the same team.

The Mustangs (26-4), playing on their home floor, advanced with a 71-62 semifinal win over Laney. They are anchored by forward Fajr Cuthbertson, who posted a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds in just 22 minutes of play Saturday. Delta’s defense has been formidable, holding opponents under 55 points in three of their four playoff victories.

While MiraCosta boasts the better record, San Joaquin Delta holds a significant statistical edge according to Interstat’s ELO ratings, which project the Mustangs with an 83% probability to win. The matchup pits MiraCosta’s high-powered offense, which has averaged 78.5 points in the postseason, against Delta’s stout home-court defense.

The winner will claim the 2026 California community college state championship.
