Laney Eagles Use Strong Middle Quarters to Defeat Butte Roadrunners in Women’s Junior College Basketball

OAKLAND, Calif. (Interstat) — The Laney Eagles used a decisive second quarter to pull away from the Butte Roadrunners for a 67-56 women’s junior college basketball victory Saturday.

The game was tied 14-14 after the first quarter before Laney outscored Butte 20-13 in the second to take control. The Eagles maintained their lead throughout the second half. Ashanti Dias led all scorers with 21 points for Laney, which improved to 23-3. Gianna Ghio added 18 points for the Eagles. Butte, which fell to 18-6, was led by a 22-point fourth-quarter surge but could not overcome the middle-period deficit. The Eagles also won the previous meeting between the teams in overtime last December.
