Los Angeles Mission vs Moorpark

MOORPARK, Calif. (Interstat) — A stark contrast in trajectories will be on display Friday night when the state-leading Moorpark College Raiders host the .500 Los Angeles Mission College Eagles in a key California community college women’s basketball matchup.

The Raiders (23-3), whose only recent blemish was a forfeit win over Oxnard on Feb. 18, have been dominant, winning their last five contested games by an average of 30.2 points. They previously defeated the Eagles 54-48 on Jan. 28.

Moorpark is powered by sophomore guard Maleyni Tolliver, who torched the Eagles for 21 points and nine rebounds in the first meeting. Tolliver has been on a tear, averaging 23.3 points and 8.0 rebounds over her last four games, including a 27-point outburst against Ventura on Feb. 4.

Los Angeles Mission (13-13) arrives with momentum after a 52-45 road win at Cuesta on Tuesday. The Eagles have won three of their last four, but face a steep challenge against the state’s elite.

The Eagles will rely on forward Ashley Martin, who recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the loss to Moorpark last month. Martin is coming off a versatile performance against Cuesta with six points, eight rebounds and five assists in just one minute of action—a statistical anomaly indicating a possible recording error, though her recent averages reflect consistent production.

For the Eagles to pull an upset, they must solve a Raiders defense that has held opponents to 42.8 points per game during its winning streak. Moorpark’s offensive balance, with Tolliver as the centerpiece, has been equally overwhelming.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Moorpark College. The Raiders can solidify their top seeding with a win, while the Eagles look to level their record and score a season-defining victory against their conference rival.
