CHULA VISTA, Calif. (Interstat) — The Southwestern College Spartans defeated the Imperial Valley Arabs 70-65 in a California Community College women’s basketball game Friday night.

Southwestern used a dominant 26-point second quarter to build a lead and held off a late Imperial Valley rally. The Arabs outscored the Spartans 26-13 in the third quarter to close the gap but could not complete the comeback.

Ari Mason led all scorers with 29 points for Southwestern. Aliyah Perry added a near triple-double with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists. Leslie Herrera powered Imperial Valley with 27 points and 15 rebounds.

Southwestern improved to 10-16 overall. Imperial Valley fell to 4-21.
