Imperial Valley vs Southwestern

SOUTHWESTERN HOSTS IMPERIAL VALLEY ON SOPHOMORE NIGHT

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (Interstat) — The Southwestern College women’s basketball team will honor its sophomore class Friday night when it hosts Imperial Valley College in a California Community College Athletic Association matchup.

The game is scheduled for Feb. 20, 2026, at Southwestern College.

The Spartans (9-15) will look to complete a season sweep of the visiting Arabs (4-20), having won the previous meeting 62-49 on Jan. 28. Southwestern enters the contest following a high-scoring 94-86 road loss to San Diego Mesa on Feb. 13, a game in which guard Aliyah Perry erupted for 39 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Perry has been a consistent force for Southwestern. In her last four full games, she is averaging 23.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists, including a 26-point, 10-assist double-double in a win over Cuyamaca on Feb. 11. Her backcourt mate, Ari Mason, is also coming off a strong performance with 22 points and eight rebounds against Mesa.

Imperial Valley seeks to snap a five-game losing streak, most recently falling 55-53 at Cuyamaca on Feb. 13. The Arabs have struggled offensively, failing to reach 40 points in four of their last six contests.

A player to watch for Imperial Valley is Mia Borboa. Her playing time has fluctuated recently, but she logged 24 minutes and scored four points in a Jan. 23 game against San Diego Mesa, indicating a potential for increased contribution.

Southwestern’s Sophomore Night festivities will add an emotional element to the contest as the Spartans aim to improve their conference standing. Despite their record, the Spartans have shown offensive potency, scoring 83 points or more in two of their last three games.

Imperial Valley, meanwhile, will look to leverage the intensity of a rivalry game and find an offensive rhythm to challenge the Spartans on their home floor.

Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. PST at Southwestern College.
