(Interstat) — VICTOR VALLEY edged DESERT 65-64 in a California Community College women’s basketball game Wednesday night.

The Rams, who led 25-24 at halftime, used a 22-point third quarter to create a cushion that withstood a late Roadrunners rally. Victor Valley’s Myla Gibson led all players with 17 rebounds, adding 11 points. Audrey Tijerina scored a game-high 21 points for Desert.

Victor Valley dominated the boards, outrebounding Desert 63-39, including a 25-5 advantage on the offensive glass. That helped offset poor shooting, as the Rams shot just 32% from the field. The Roadrunners committed 25 turnovers.

Victor Valley improved to 18-8 overall. Desert fell to 11-13.
