Victor Valley vs Desert

Preview: Victor Valley Rams at Desert Roadrunners

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging Victor Valley women’s basketball team looks to solidify its winning season when it visits Desert College on Wednesday night in a California Community College Athletic Association matchup.

The Rams (17-8) enter with a strong record but are looking to rebound from a narrow 70-69 road loss to Copper Mountain on Feb. 11. Prior to that, they had won three of their last four, including a dominant 86-24 victory over Barstow.

Victor Valley will rely heavily on forward Myla Gibson, who has been a force on the boards. In her last three games, Gibson averaged 13.3 points and 16.7 rebounds, including a 21-rebound performance in a win over San Bernardino Valley on Jan. 23.

The Desert Roadrunners (11-12) have shown recent life, winning two straight, including a 67-52 home victory over Palo Verde on Feb. 14. Guard Giovanna Espinoza powered that win, playing the entire 40 minutes and scoring 29 points with four assists. She averaged 23.5 points over her last two contests.

History favors the visiting Rams, who handily defeated Desert 79-56 in their first meeting this season on Jan. 17.

For Victor Valley, consistency will be key after their recent tight loss. For Desert, continuing their modest win streak at home and containing Gibson inside will be the primary challenges. The Roadrunners’ recent offensive output, led by Espinoza, will be tested by a Rams squad seeking to get back on track.

Tip-off is set for Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, at Desert College.
