Mendocino vs Marin
Preview: Mendocino Eagles at Marin Mariners Women’s Basketball
KENTFIELD, Calif. (Interstat) — The Marin women’s basketball team will look to get back to the .500 mark in conference play when it hosts the struggling Mendocino Eagles in a California Community College matchup Wednesday night.
The Mariners (10-11) enter the contest following a narrow 58-56 road loss to Merritt on Feb. 6, which snapped a two-game winning streak. Prior to that, Marin dropped a close 69-64 decision to Los Medanos at home on Feb. 4. The team has shown resilience at home this season, boasting notable victories over Yuba, Solano and Los Medanos in Kentfield.
A key player for the Mariners is Isabella Zepeda, who has been a consistent contributor during the team’s recent homestand. Zepeda played a minute in each of the team’s last four home games, all wins, from Jan. 14 through Jan. 26.
The visiting Eagles (0-7) are seeking their first win of the season amid a difficult campaign. Mendocino is coming off an 81-41 home loss to Napa Valley on Feb. 6 and has lost its games by an average margin of 49.7 points. The Eagles’ season includes a 118-23 loss to Laney on Jan. 2 and a 93-27 defeat to Merritt on Jan. 16.
Mendocino will look to guard Samantha Hernandez for production. Hernandez has seen limited action in recent contests, logging a minute in games against Yuba and Los Medanos in January.
Historically, Marin has faced several common opponents with more success. Where Mendocino fell to Yuba 73-27 and 64-30, Marin defeated Yuba 76-56. The Mariners also handily beat Los Medanos 83-53, a team that defeated Mendocino 89-33.
Following this game, Marin will hit the road to face Solano on Friday. Mendocino will return home to host Los Medanos on Friday.
Tip-off is set for Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, in Kentfield.
