Missouri at BYU

PROVO, Utah (Interstat) — The BYU women’s basketball team, riding a wave of late-season momentum, will host the Missouri Tigers at the Marriott Center on Monday night in a nonconference matchup.

The Cougars (24-11) enter the contest having won five of their last six games, including a decisive 72-47 victory over Alabama A&M on Thursday. They are led by guard Sydney Benally, who is coming off an 18-point, 5-assist performance. Over her last six games, Benally has averaged 8.2 points and 4.5 assists, serving as a key facilitator for a balanced BYU offense.

Missouri (17-16) snapped a four-game skid with a 67-57 road win at Seton Hall on Thursday. The Tigers will lean heavily on standout guard Grace Slaughter, who scored 22 points in that victory. Slaughter has been a consistent offensive force, averaging 16.6 points per game over her last five contests, including a 21-point outing against top-ranked South Carolina on Feb. 26.

The game pits teams with contrasting recent trajectories. BYU has built its record on strong home-court play and efficient offense, while Missouri has struggled against ranked competition, suffering lopsided losses to South Carolina, LSU and Tennessee in February. The Tigers’ win at Seton Hall, however, provided a needed boost.

For BYU, contributions beyond Benally will be crucial. Lara Rohkohl added 13 points off the bench in the last game, and Delaney Gibb scored 11. Missouri will need secondary scoring to complement Slaughter; forward Jordana Reisma provided 17 points and Shannon Dowell added 9 points and 5 assists in the Seton Hall win.

This marks the final scheduled nonconference game for both programs before postseason tournaments are announced. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. MDT at the 19,000-seat Marriott Center.
