WASHINGTON (Interstat) — UNC Wilmington edged Northeastern 51-50 in a women’s basketball game Wednesday at CareFirst Arena. The Seahawks overcame a first-quarter deficit to secure the narrow Colonial Athletic Association victory.

Northeastern opened strong, leading 19-13 after the first quarter. UNC Wilmington steadily chipped away, taking a one-point lead into the fourth quarter and holding on despite being outscored 11-12 in the final period. Both teams struggled offensively throughout the contest.

The win improved UNC Wilmington’s record to 7-23. Northeastern fell to 7-22. An announced crowd of 1,100 attended the conference matchup.
