Robert Morris at Fort Wayne
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Interstat) — A pivotal late-season Horizon League matchup awaits Wednesday when the Fort Wayne Mastodons host the Robert Morris Colonials in women’s basketball at Gates Sports Center.
Both teams enter with identical 18-win records, though Fort Wayne (18-12) has one more loss than Robert Morris (18-11). The Mastodons hold a slight edge in the recent series, having split the two regular-season meetings. Fort Wayne won the most recent encounter 60-46 on its home court on Jan. 27, while Robert Morris claimed a 74-64 victory in Moon, Pennsylvania, on Jan. 8.
The Colonials are coming off a 62-50 home win over Wright State on Saturday, led by 19 points from standout guard Myriam Traore. The senior has been a consistent offensive force, scoring 20 or more points in three of her last seven games, including a 22-point performance in a win at Detroit Mercy on Feb. 19.
Fort Wayne counters with its own backcourt leader in Jordan Reid. The Mastodons are riding a two-game winning streak, including a 71-66 victory over Green Bay on Saturday where Reid contributed 13 points and three assists. She has shown scoring versatility, posting a 20-point, five-rebound game in a rout of Detroit Mercy on Feb. 14.
Robert Morris has shown resilience, with three of its last five games decided in overtime. Fort Wayne has been strong at home, boasting a decisive 95-66 win over Detroit Mercy earlier this month.
According to Interstat’s ELO system, Fort Wayne is projected as a significant favorite with an 80.5% probability to win. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST Wednesday.
