WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (Interstat) — Monmouth used a strong first half to secure a 65-56 women’s basketball victory over Northeastern on Wednesday afternoon at Multipurpose Activity Center.

The Hawks built a 36-20 halftime lead behind 18 points in each of the first two quarters. The Huskies rallied after halftime but could not close the gap. GiGi Gamble of Somerset, New Jersey, led all scorers with 24 points for Monmouth. Camryn Collins scored 14 points for Northeastern. Monmouth improved to 13-5, while Northeastern dropped to 6-12. The Hawks avenged a loss to the Huskies from earlier this month.
