Northeastern at Monmouth
Preview: Northeastern Huskies at Monmouth Hawks
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (Interstat) — The Monmouth Hawks will seek to avenge a recent loss and protect their strong home record when they host the Northeastern Huskies in a women’s NCAA Division I basketball game on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026.
Monmouth (12-5) enters with a significant advantage in the standings but will be motivated by a 72-67 defeat at Northeastern just over two weeks ago on Jan. 11. The Hawks have since won three straight, including a dominant 72-31 victory over Campbell on Jan. 18. They are 7-2 at home this season.
The Hawks are led by forward Divine Dibula, who is coming off a 16-point, 12-rebound double-double in the win over Campbell. In the prior meeting with Northeastern, Dibula was held to 10 points and five rebounds.
Northeastern (6-11) snapped a five-game skid with that Jan. 11 win over Monmouth but has lost two of three since, including a 50-63 home loss to William & Mary last Friday. The Huskies are 2-7 in road games.
Guard Yirsy Quéliz will be a key for the Huskies. She scored 10 points in the loss to William & Mary and had a season-high 19 points in a double-overtime loss to North Carolina A&T on Jan. 9. In the first matchup with Monmouth, Quéliz contributed three assists in 25 minutes.
Monmouth’s recent surge has been fueled by defense, holding opponents to an average of 45 points during its three-game win streak. Northeastern has struggled offensively, failing to reach 70 points in its last six games aside from the first Monmouth contest.
The game is a crucial conference matchup as both teams look to position themselves in the league standings ahead of the final month of the regular season.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST at OceanFirst Bank Center.
