Georgia Southern at Miami (Ohio)
Preview: Georgia Southern Eagles at Miami (Ohio) Redhawks
OXFORD, Ohio (Interstat) — Two of the nation’s hottest mid-major women’s basketball teams will collide Saturday when the Georgia Southern Eagles visit the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks at Millett Hall.
The matchup features surging squads with a combined record of 34-9. Miami (Ohio) (18-4) enters on an eight-game winning streak, last falling on Dec. 31. Georgia Southern (16-5) has won five of its last six, including a 61-57 road victory at Texas State on Wednesday.
The game will showcase two of the most dynamic guards in their respective conferences. Georgia Southern’s Kishyah Anderson is averaging 17.5 points over her last six games, highlighted by a 31-point performance in a win over Southern Mississippi on Jan. 28. She scored 13 in the midweek win at Texas State.
Miami (Ohio) counters with Amber Scalia, who is coming off a dominant 23-point, six-rebound, seven-assist effort in a 90-70 rout of Ohio on Jan. 31. During the Redhawks’ eight-game streak, Scalia has been a consistent force, scoring in double figures in every contest.
The Eagles have proven resilient on the road, going 3-1 in their last four away games. Destiny Garrett (17 points) and McKenna Eddings (14 points) provided crucial support alongside Anderson in the Texas State win.
The Redhawks boast balanced scoring and stifling defense, holding opponents to an average of 53.6 points during their win streak. Tamar Barber (17 points, 9 assists vs. Ohio) and Amber Tretter (13 points, 10 rebounds) provide formidable support for Scalia.
This non-conference clash offers a late-season resume-building opportunity for both programs. Georgia Southern will look to hand Miami (Ohio) its first loss since calendar year 2025 and continue its own push toward 20 wins.
Tip-off is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026.
