NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (Interstat) — Siena used a dominant first quarter to secure a 94-80 women’s basketball victory over Iona on Saturday at Hynes Center. The Saints opened a 30-15 lead after one period and maintained a double-digit advantage for most of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference contest.

Francesca Schiro led Siena (6-7) with 23 points. Caydence Hadley added 17 points and Nicole Melious scored 19. Mya Zaccagnini scored a game-high 34 points for Iona (8-6), and Isabellah Middleton contributed 17 points.

Siena shot 51.5% from the field and outscored Iona 42-40 in the paint. The Gaels shot 38.1% overall but converted 21 points off 25 Saints turnovers. Attendance was 636.
