Iowa vs. Baylor

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Interstat) — A marquee nonconference showdown between two undefeated women’s basketball powers is set for Thursday as Iowa faces Baylor in the WBCA Showcase at Disney World.

Both the Hawkeyes (4-0) and Lady Bears (4-0) have dominated their early-season schedules, winning each of their first four games by double digits. Iowa arrives averaging 97.3 points per game, fueled by a 119-point outburst against Evansville. They are coming off a 74-41 road win at Northern Iowa where Chazadi Wright scored 19 points and Layla Hays added 14 points and seven rebounds.

Baylor has been equally impressive, most recently dismantling Le Moyne 99-43. In that victory, Darianna Littlepage-Buggs posted a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds, while Taliah Scott nearly notched one of her own with 22 points and nine assists. The Lady Bears also boast a quality 62-54 road win at UNLV.

This neutral-site contest in Florida is the first true test for both teams. Iowa’s high-octane offense will be challenged by a stout Baylor defense that has yet to allow more than 63 points in a game this season.

The Hawkeyes continue their Florida trip against Miami on Saturday in Orlando, while Baylor remains in the Sunshine State to face Davidson.
