MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Interstat) — Sofia Munoz scored 20 points, including the go-ahead free throws with five seconds left in overtime, to lift UAB to a 79-76 women’s basketball victory over Memphis on Wednesday night at FedExForum.

The Blazers, who led by 11 after one quarter, surrendered that lead in the second and needed a late push to force overtime tied at 68. Munoz, who added eight assists, hit two free throws to break a 76-76 tie in the extra period. Molly Moffitt led all scorers with 23 points for UAB.

Memphis’ Daejah Richmond matched Moffitt with 23 points, and Tamya Smith added 17. The Tigers had a chance to tie after Munoz’s free throws but turned the ball over. UAB improved to 11-18, while Memphis fell to 9-21.
