UAB at Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Interstat) — The UAB Blazers and Chattanooga Lady Mocs, both looking to build momentum in the early season, will face off in a nonconference women’s basketball game Sunday at McKenzie Arena.

UAB (1-2) enters the contest fresh off its first victory, an 80-56 home win over Alabama A&M on Wednesday. Cali Smallwood led the way with a dominant 29-point, 5-rebound performance, while Sofia Munoz added 16 points and eight assists.

Chattanooga (2-2) aims to rebound from a 73-56 road loss to Troy on the same night. Caia Elisaldez paced the Lady Mocs in that contest with 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

The Blazers’ season opened with narrow losses to West Alabama and South Alabama before their breakout offensive performance. The Lady Mocs have experienced similar inconsistency, sandwiching a win over Lipscomb and a blowout of King around losses to Florida and Troy.

This matchup will be the final home game for Chattanooga before a two-game road trip. UAB continues a stretch of road games, heading to Murray State next Saturday.
