Grambling at Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. (Interstat) — The undefeated Arizona Wildcats look to continue their strong start to the season when they host the struggling Grambling Lady Tigers in a non-conference women’s basketball game Sunday at McKale Center.

Arizona (2-0) is coming off a 75-61 victory over UC Irvine on Nov. 9. Mickayla Perdue led the Wildcats with 31 points, while Lani Cornfield added a double-double with 14 points and 12 assists. The Wildcats also opened their season with a narrow 62-59 win over UC Riverside on Nov. 6.

Grambling (1-3) arrives in Tucson seeking to rebound from a 74-55 road loss to Louisiana-Monroe on Tuesday. Despite the defeat, Shaniah Nunn delivered a dominant performance for the Lady Tigers, recording 18 points and 14 rebounds. Grambling’s lone win this season was a 93-45 rout of Ouachita Baptist on Nov. 9, but the team has suffered double-digit losses in its three other contests, including a 49-89 defeat at North Texas.

The game marks the first meeting between the two programs. For Grambling, it is the final non-conference road test before a break and a subsequent game at Baylor on Nov. 30. Arizona will continue its homestand against Northern Arizona on Nov. 21.
