Baylor women roll past Le Moyne for dominant home victory

WACO, Texas (Interstat) — The Baylor Lady Bears delivered a dominant, wire-to-wire performance Sunday afternoon, overwhelming the visiting Le Moyne Dolphins 99 to 43 in a non-conference women’s basketball game at the Ferrell Center.

From the opening tip, Baylor’s superior size, speed, and defensive intensity set the tone. The Lady Bears erupted for 26 first-quarter points while holding Le Moyne to just 13, and the gap only widened from there. A 24-point second quarter for Baylor, contrasted with a six-point frame for the Dolphins, sent the game into halftime with the Lady Bears holding a commanding 50 to 19 lead.

Any hope of a Le Moyne rally was extinguished in the third quarter as Baylor unleashed its most potent offensive period, scoring 31 points to put the game completely out of reach before closing out the victory.

The statistical sheet painted a clear picture of the lopsided affair. Baylor’s offense was ruthlessly efficient, shooting 56.5 percent from the floor on 35-of-62 shooting. They also capitalized on their trips to the free-throw line, making 22 of 29 attempts. Defensively, the Lady Bears were a nightmare for Le Moyne, forcing 23 turnovers and converting them into 31 points. Baylor also dominated the paint, outscoring the Dolphins 50 to 14.

Le Moyne struggled profoundly on offense, shooting just 30.4 percent from the field and 23.3 percent from three-point range. The Dolphins managed only four assists against their 23 turnovers, highlighting the disruptive force of the Baylor defense.

Baylor’s victory was a showcase of individual talent, led by a powerful double-double from Darianna Littlepage-Buggs. The Oklahoma City native scored a game-high 26 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in just 23 minutes of action. Taliah Scott from Orange Park, Florida, was a dynamic force, filling the stat sheet with 22 points, nine assists and five rebounds. Bella Fontleroy of Springfield, Missouri, also cracked the 20-point mark, contributing 21 points and four rebounds.

For Le Moyne, Peyton Dincher from Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, led the team with 11 points. Jessica Wangolo of Ottawa, Canada, added eight points and four rebounds, while Ashley Buragas of Hopewell Junction, New York, chipped in seven points and three rebounds.

The win improves Baylor’s record to a perfect 4-0 to start the season, while Le Moyne falls to 1-2.

Baylor’s next test is a significant one, as they travel to Orlando, Florida, to face the Iowa Hawkeyes on Thursday. Le Moyne looks to rebound at home when they host Cornell on Saturday.
