Morehead State at Southeast Missouri State

Preview: Morehead State Eagles at Southeast Missouri State Redhawks

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (Interstat) — The Morehead State women’s basketball team looks to extend its winning streak and solidify its position in the Ohio Valley Conference standings when it visits Southeast Missouri State on Thursday night at the Show Me Center.

The Eagles (14-9) enter on a five-game winning streak, most recently defeating Lindenwood 69-63 on Jan. 31. The Redhawks (8-13) snapped a two-game skid with a 71-56 road victory at Eastern Illinois on the same date.

Morehead State won the season’s first meeting, 65-59, at home on Jan. 10. In that game, Southeast Missouri’s Kearra Jones posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Morehead State’ Laura Toffali contributed 6 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.

Toffali, a key guard for the Eagles, is coming off a strong 16-point, 4-rebound, 4-assist performance in 40 minutes against Lindenwood. Over her last eight games, she has averaged 11.4 points, including a 22-point outing against Eastern Illinois on Jan. 24.

Jones, a forward for the Redhawks, is also in strong form. She dominated in the win over Eastern Illinois, recording a double-double with 19 points, 13 rebounds and 3 blocks. In the Jan. 10 loss to Morehead State, she was a primary offensive threat.

The matchup features contrasting trajectories. Morehead State has won seven of its last eight games, with the only loss in that span a road defeat at Tennessee State. Southeast Missouri State has struggled for consistency, alternating wins and losses over its past six contests.

A victory would allow the Eagles to keep pace in the upper tier of the OVC. The Redhawks, meanwhile, seek to build momentum from their last outing and level the season series on their home floor.

The game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. CST tip-off on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026.
