Fordham at Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. (Interstat) — The Davidson Wildcats, looking to rebound from a triple-overtime heartbreaker, will host the Fordham Rams in an Atlantic 10 women’s basketball matchup Wednesday night at Belk Arena.

Davidson (11-6, 2-1 A-10) enters the contest after a taxing 91-84, three-overtime loss at Richmond on Saturday. Charlise Dunn logged 51 minutes and scored 21 points in the defeat, showcasing the endurance of the Wildcats’ standout. Dunn has been a consistent force, averaging 14.4 points and 6.2 rebounds over her last five games, including a 13-point, 13-rebound double-double in a win at Loyola Chicago.

Fordham (8-8, 0-3) seeks its first conference win amid a four-game skid. The Rams fell 66-58 to Dayton on Saturday, despite 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists from guard Carryn Easley. Easley has been a bright spot during the losing streak, averaging 8.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game in that span. Support from Lakresha Edwards, who had a team-high 17 points against Dayton, will be crucial.

The Wildcats have found success with defensive intensity, holding Saint Joseph’s to just 36 points in a win last week. Fordham’s offense has struggled in A-10 play, failing to reach 70 points in any of its three league games.

Davidson holds the superior record and home-court advantage, where they are 7-2 this season. Fordham, however, is 3-4 in true road games and will need to solve its recent offensive woes to challenge the Wildcats.

This game is the first of two regular-season meetings between the teams, with a rematch scheduled for Feb. 25 in New York.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
