Nevada at Boise State
BOISE, Idaho (Interstat) — The Boise State Broncos will look to close nonconference play on a high note and extend their strong start when they host the struggling Nevada Wolf Pack in a Mountain West women’s basketball matchup on New Year’s Eve.
The game is scheduled for Wednesday at Taco Bell Arena.
Boise State (9-4) enters with a winning record built on a potent offense, averaging over 71 points per game. The Broncos have won five of their last seven, though they are coming off an 83-54 road loss to San Diego State on Dec. 20. Guard Libby Hutton has been a consistent contributor, averaging 11.5 points over her last four games, including a 17-point effort in a narrow loss at New Mexico.
Nevada (4-8) seeks to snap a five-game losing streak, a skid that includes a 61-48 home loss to Colorado State and a 61-45 defeat at Air Force last Saturday. The Wolf Pack have struggled offensively during the slump, failing to reach 50 points in four of the five losses.
A key matchup will feature Nevada’s top recent performer against Boise State’s balanced attack. Wolf Pack guard Skylar Durley is coming off a season-high 18-point performance against Air Force, adding five rebounds and two blocks. Containing her will be a focus for a Broncos defense that has shown lapses, allowing 83 points in each of its last two road losses.
For Boise State, Hutton’s scoring alongside backcourt mate Mya Hansen (7 points, 3 assists vs. SDSU) and forward Izzie Harms, who had an efficient 10 points in 10 minutes last game, provides multiple threats. Nevada will counter with forward Chloe Williams, who grabbed 10 rebounds against Air Force.
Historically, Boise State has dominated the series, winning 12 of the last 13 meetings. The teams will meet again in Reno on Feb. 4.
The game marks the final nonconference tune-up for both squads before Mountain West play intensifies in January. For the Broncos, it’s a chance to solidify their momentum at home. For the Wolf Pack, it represents an opportunity to find a spark before the conference grind begins.
