BOCA RATON, Fla. (Interstat) — North Texas used a dominant third quarter to secure an 81-56 victory over Florida Atlantic in an American Athletic Conference women’s basketball game Tuesday at FAU Gymnasium.

The Mean Green, now 7-6, broke open a close contest by outscoring the Owls 20-6 in the third period. Aysia Proctor led all scorers with 22 points for North Texas. Jazzy Owens-Barnett added 11 points off the bench.

Florida Atlantic (6-7) was paced by Vivian Onugha’s 14 points. The Owls struggled offensively after halftime, managing just six points in the decisive third quarter before a late surge in the fourth.

An announced crowd of 603 watched as North Texas improved to .500 in conference play. The teams will meet again in Denton on Jan. 31.
