EDINBURG, Texas (Interstat) — Texas-Rio Grande Valley earned a 71-64 women’s basketball victory over Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday at UT Pan Am Field House. The Vaqueros improved to 18-12 overall, while the Lions fell to 13-14.

Jalayah Ingram led all scorers with 22 points for Texas-Rio Grande Valley. The Vaqueros used a more efficient offensive performance, shooting 44.6% from the floor and capitalizing on 17-of-22 free throws. Texas A&M-Commerce, led by Rezia Castillo’s 17 points, shot just 33.9% from the field. The Lions kept pace early but could not overcome the home team’s consistent scoring across all four quarters in front of 1,509 fans.
