Washington at Wisconsin

Preview: Washington Huskies at Wisconsin Badgers

MADISON, Wis. (Interstat) — The Washington women’s basketball team looks to rebound from back-to-back losses when it visits the Wisconsin Badgers in a Big Ten matchup Sunday at Kohl Center.

The Huskies (17-6) enter after a 70-60 home loss to Ohio State on Thursday, which followed a 75-66 defeat against Illinois on Feb. 1. Those setbacks halted a five-game winning streak for Washington.

Wisconsin (13-10) seeks to end its own skid, having lost three straight, including a narrow 77-74 defeat to Indiana on Wednesday.

The game features two of the conference’s top guards. Washington sophomore Sayvia Sellers has been a consistent offensive force, averaging 22.1 points over her last eight games. She is coming off a 26-point performance against Ohio State and scored a career-high 38 in a double-overtime win at Maryland on Jan. 28.

For the Badgers, senior Kyrah Daniels leads the backcourt. She paced Wisconsin with 15 points and five assists against Indiana and scored 18 points in a double-overtime victory over Oregon on Jan. 18.

Washington’s defense, which held four opponents under 65 points during its recent win streak, will be tested against a Wisconsin team that averages 69.2 points per game but has struggled in recent road losses at Ohio State and Minnesota.

The Huskies hold a notable edge in overall record, but are 1-2 in their last three road contests. Wisconsin is 9-4 at home this season, including the dramatic win over Oregon.

This is the only scheduled regular-season meeting between the programs. Washington continues its road trip at Iowa on Wednesday. Wisconsin travels to face Illinois on the same night.
