AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (Interstat) — The Detroit Titans held off a late rally to defeat the Oakland Golden Grizzlies 72-69 in a Horizon League women’s basketball game Saturday at the Athletics Center O’rena.

Detroit built a lead with a strong second quarter and maintained it despite Oakland’s Makenzie Luehring scoring a game-high 33 points. The Titans’ Jasmine Edwards recorded a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Kailee Davis led Detroit with 20 points.

Oakland, which made 20 of 22 free throws, cut a double-digit deficit to three in the final minute but could not complete the comeback. Detroit forced 19 turnovers and outscored Oakland 19-16 off those mistakes. The Titans improved to 5-18 overall, while the Golden Grizzlies fell to 8-15.
