Detroit at Oakland
Preview: Detroit Titans at Oakland Golden Grizzlies
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (Interstat) — Horizon League women’s basketball rivals Detroit and Oakland meet for the second time this season Saturday when the Golden Grizzlies host the Titans at the Athletics Center O’rena.
Oakland (8-14) earned an 80-70 road victory in the first matchup on Jan. 18. Filippa Goula led the Golden Grizzlies in that win with 12 points, six rebounds and five assists. The guard enters this contest as Oakland’s hottest player, averaging 16.3 points over her last four games, including a 22-point effort in a narrow 77-76 loss at Northern Kentucky on Tuesday.
Detroit (4-18) looks to snap a seven-game losing streak. The Titans are coming off a 95-66 defeat at Fort Wayne on Feb. 1. Guard Kailee Davis, the team’s player to watch, scored 12 points in that contest. She has been a bright spot during the skid, averaging 12.0 points over her last three games where she saw significant minutes.
Both teams have struggled in conference play, but the Jan. 18 result suggests a competitive rematch. Oakland has shown more recent success, securing three wins since that game, including victories over IU Indy and Milwaukee. Detroit’s last win was on Dec. 29, 2025, against Rochester.
The Golden Grizzlies will rely on Goula’s scoring and the supporting play of Makenzie Luehring, who scored 26 points in the loss to Northern Kentucky. Detroit will need Davis to provide offensive punch and hope for contributions from Myonna Hooper and Anna Lassan, who combined for 19 points in the last outing.
Following this game, Detroit hosts Wright State on Feb. 12. Oakland travels to face IU Indy on Feb. 11.
Tip-off is set for Saturday afternoon in Auburn Hills.
