Iowa State at Utah

SALT LAKE CITY (Interstat) — A pivotal Big 12 women’s basketball matchup awaits Saturday when the Iowa State Cyclones visit the Utah Utes at the Jon M. Huntsman Center.

Iowa State (18-5, 5-3 Big 12) enters on a three-game winning streak, most recently defeating UCF 65-52 last Saturday. The Cyclones boast one of the conference’s most potent offenses, averaging 78.2 points per game in their last five outings. They are led by standout center Audi Crooks, who is coming off a 13-rebound performance against UCF and a 33-point outburst at Texas Tech on Jan. 28. Her interior presence will be central to Iowa State’s game plan.

Utah (16-7, 4-4) looks to build momentum after a 67-57 road win at UCF on Wednesday. The Utes have shown resilience at home, going 10-2 in Salt Lake City this season. Guard Lani White has been on a scoring tear, averaging 18.4 points over her last five games, including a 22-point effort in the win over UCF. Her backcourt battle with Iowa State’s Jada Williams, who had 23 points and 5 assists in the last meeting with UCF, will be a key subplot.

The game features a contrast in styles. Iowa State’s high-scoring attack, which also features Arianna Jackson, will test a Utah defense that has held opponents to 60.8 points per game at home. The Utes must contain Crooks in the paint while managing the Cyclones’ perimeter threats.

For Utah, maintaining home-court advantage is critical as they sit in the middle of the conference standings. Iowa State, currently tied for third, aims to solidify its position near the top. History will be made as this marks the first meeting between the programs as Big 12 opponents.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. MST Saturday. Utah travels to Arizona State next Wednesday, while Iowa State visits BYU on Tuesday.
