Dayton at La Salle

PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — A pair of Atlantic 10 women’s basketball teams hovering around .500 will meet Wednesday when the Dayton Flyers visit the La Salle Explorers at Tom Gola Arena.

Dayton (11-11) looks to rebound from a 54-66 home loss to George Washington on Sunday. The Flyers have lost three of their last four contests. La Salle (12-10) enters on a high note after a commanding 77-61 road victory at Duquesne on Saturday, snapping a two-game skid.

The matchup features two of the conference’s top offensive guards. Dayton will lean on Nicole Stephens, who is averaging 14.1 points over her last eight games. She scored 15 points in the loss to George Washington and poured in 19 in a win over Saint Bonaventure on Jan. 28.

La Salle is powered by Ashleigh Connor, who is coming off a dominant 26-point, 4-assist performance against Duquesne. Connor has scored 21 or more points in three of her last five outings, including a 25-point, 8-rebound effort against Saint Louis on Jan. 14.

In their last meeting, La Salle defeated Dayton 71-67 on Feb. 7, 2025. The Flyers hold a 39-22 lead in the all-time series.

The Explorers have been strong at home in conference play, with wins in three of their last four at Tom Gola Arena. Dayton has struggled on the road, posting a 2-5 record in true away games this season.

A key battle will be in the backcourt, where Stephens’ playmaking for Dayton will be challenged by Connor’s scoring prowess for La Salle. The Flyers will also need production from Nayo Lear (13 points vs. GW) and Olivia Leung to counter La Salle’s supporting cast, which saw Aryss Macktoon score 23 points in the win over Duquesne.

The result could provide crucial momentum as both teams jockey for position in the Atlantic 10 standings ahead of the conference tournament. Following this game, Dayton visits Saint Joseph’s on Saturday, while La Salle hosts Fordham.
