Boise State at Nevada
RENO, Nev. (Interstat) — A surging Boise State team visits a struggling Nevada squad in a Mountain West women’s basketball matchup Wednesday at Lawlor Events Center.
The Broncos (17-5) enter on a seven-game winning streak, their latest a dominant 96-62 home victory over San Jose State on Saturday. The Wolf Pack (7-14) have lost five straight, including a 67-54 defeat at San Diego State last weekend.
Boise State, which sits near the top of the conference standings, has been fueled by efficient offense and balanced scoring. In the win over San Jose State, Tatum Thompson scored 28 points in just 25 minutes, Dani Bayes added 18 and Natalie Pasco had 16. Thompson, a key player to watch, is averaging 16.4 points over her last five games.
Nevada, near the bottom of the league, has struggled to find consistent offense. Freshman Maia Rosarion provided a bright spot in the loss to SDSU, posting 14 points and six rebounds off the bench. Her recent insertion into the rotation has yielded double-digit scoring in two of the last four games.
The Broncos won the first meeting this season decisively, 74-62, in Boise on Dec. 31. Nevada has not won since a 70-61 victory at New Mexico on Jan. 10.
For Boise State, the game represents a critical opportunity to maintain momentum in the conference race before hosting New Mexico on Saturday. For Nevada, it is a chance to halt its skid and build confidence during a tough stretch, with a trip to Fresno State looming next.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST Wednesday.
