Gallagher Leads Spartans Past Blue Hose in Big South Matchup

CLINTON, S.C. (Interstat) — Cassie Gallagher scored 25 points to lead South Carolina Upstate to a 70-63 women’s basketball victory over Presbyterian on Wednesday night at Templeton Center.

The Spartans (7-17, 2-7 Big South) built a commanding 42-27 halftime lead behind a strong first half, then held off a second-half push by the Blue Hose (3-20, 1-9). Presbyterian outscored Upstate 23-12 in the third quarter to close the gap but could not complete the comeback.

Gallagher’s efficient performance, needing just 37 minutes for her game-high point total, anchored the Upstate offense. Ja’Cia Cunningham led Presbyterian with 22 points. The Spartans prevailed despite committing 26 turnovers, as they shot 53.5% from the field and held the Blue Hose to 30.9% shooting.
