Davidson at Rhode Island

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (Interstat) — A surging Rhode Island squad looks to continue its dominant run in Atlantic 10 play when it hosts a Davidson team finding its footing Wednesday night at the Ryan Center.

The Rams (16-2 overall, 6-0 A-10) have won nine consecutive games, most recently a 70-50 rout of Duquesne on Sunday. They are led by forward Albina Syla, who is coming off a commanding 23-point, 11-rebound, three-block performance. Rhode Island’s defense has been stifling, holding conference opponents to an average of 50.2 points per game.

Davidson (13-6, 4-2) arrives after a gritty 62-58 road win at La Salle, its third victory in the last four outings. The Wildcats lean on guard Katie Donovan, who scored 13 points with six rebounds in that contest and erupted for 27 points in a triple-overtime loss to Richmond on Jan. 10.

The matchup pits Rhode Island’s league-best defense against a Davidson offense that has shown potency, scoring 74 or more points in three of its last six games. The Wildcats’ ability to handle the Rams’ pressure and control the tempo will be critical.

Rhode Island won both meetings last season. The Rams’ current win streak is their longest since the 2022-23 season, while Davidson seeks a statement road win to solidify its conference standing.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. EST. Rhode Island travels to Dayton on Sunday, while Davidson hosts VCU on Jan. 25.
